7 Days Until X-O Manowar

Next Wednesday, May 2, will mark the release of X-O Manowar #1, my first ongoing monthly comic book series.  Advance reviews are already popping up online, and—happily—there’s been a positive response:

I’ll be spending next week in New York, where Valiant has scheduled a series of events celebrating the relaunch of the Valiant Universe:

May 2, 6:00-7:00 p.m.: Midtown Comics (Fulton Street location)

May 4, 6:00-8:00 p.m.: Brave New Worlds (Philadelphia)

May 5 (Free Comic Book Day), 12:00-2:00 p.m.: Jim Hanley’s Universe (33rd Street location)

If you’re in the area, stop by!

    Hi Robert,
Really nice first issue of X-O Manowar! I liked the Byronic hero development of Aric. Did William Wallace influence you in any way with Aric’s development? Cary Nord’s artwork really complements your writing ie.. Aric floating when he says “It is time to fight!” and the vine baby morphed message “CHIRR-WAH!” (Brilliant). I can see the transformation even though you can’t see the human baby being smuggled back to the ship. You guys really did your homework. The Roman troops “Line fighting” is very detailed and true to the real way they would line up and blow whistles when the next line would move up to fight. Will you have any appearances in Atlanta GA in the near future? I bet your fan base here would like to thank you in person for the awesome work you have done on X-O Manowar #1. Can’t wait till next month to see how Aric obtains the armor. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, Joel. I’m honored to be working with Cary, Stefano, Moose, and Dave (the awesome letterer responsible for pulling off the “chirr-wah” balloon). Not sure about any Atlanta appearances in the immediate future, but I’m sure I’ll be popping up somewhere soon. Keep checking the website for details.
